Where can you experience 500 years of maritime history and meet people from all over the world? Right here at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum in Oxnard. Enliven maritime history for visitors as a volunteer docent: bring to life famous ships and sea battles; speak of whalers and whaling ships, Chinese junks, and English privateers. By joining the CIMM community of volunteers, you may also participate in special events, school education programs, and other opportunities to utilize your talents.

From greeting guests to helping school groups discover the Maritime world, there are many important ways in which volunteers contribute to making the Museum experience a great one. We appreciate your interest and look forward to sharing with you all that the Channel Islands Maritime Museum has to offer!

The Museum conducts frequent training classes. In just a few short weeks you could be a part of making history live, having fun, and doing something that benefits your well-being and contributes to your community. Support Museum programs and activities by donating your time and talents, enjoy enriching meetings with guest speakers, and engage in opportunities to meet other volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and cultural experiences.
